VLC

Hi Chantelle,

I suggest you check the version of VLC you're running as I have the most recent version (2.1 Rincewind) and the View button is between the Tools and Help button. There might be a different version for Mac too and maybe that it what you need to use.

You may refer to the following guides:
How to Use VLC As a Video Cutting Tool
How to create video clips in VLC

Hope that helps. Have a good day!

Hi Cecille

I also read those guides. However if you look at the VLC 2.2 version the View option does not have the Advanced Controls option as it says in the tutorials ... it only has "show previous and next buttons", show shuffle and repeat buttons", "show audio effects buttons and " show sidebar". I have looked at the other menus and can't find anything which seems like a link to a video clip option. Do you know , or could you refer me to data which could help me out with making video clips with this version. I have done a search on google and can find nothing

Thanks a lot

Hi Chantelle,

I'm sorry, I'm unable to locate a VLC 2.2 version, or are you referring to the VLC 2.2 Nightly Build? If you are, then I suggest you download the 2.1 version instead as VLC nightly builds are experimental versions of the player and are not supported by the VLC team. This could be the reason why you're not able to find a tutorial for this version on Google.

You can try deleting that version from your computer, and then download the 2.1 version from: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-macosx.html

Hope that helps. Have a good day!

Hi Cecille

Sorry ( mistake in typing ) ... that is in fact the version I had already downloaded( 2.1 ) ... and the problem remains the same... the View menu does not have an advanced controls option... as I mentioned previously. I am really stuck because all the info I read on the internet says the view menu has this option , but it is definitely not on the VLC media player I downloaded. I have also emailed VideoLan... but no answer yet

Thanks a lot

Hi Chantelle,

Is it possible for you to post a screenshot of the View menu on your copy of the VLC media player? Have you also tried uninstalling then reinstalling the player?

I am unable to locate any information as to the differences between the Mac and Win version. From what I was able to find, there's none. It would be best to wait for the VideoLan support but no harm in looking at what we could do for the mean time.

I appreciate your patience. All the best!

Hi Chantelle,

You can take a screenshot then upload it to a photo-sharing site like Flickr or Photobucket and share it here by giving us the link or using the [img] code.

Hope that helps. Have a good day!
