How Do I Create Content For My Website?

When it comes time to start creating content for your AffiloJetpack website, your first stop should be the Content Ideas (content “cheat sheets”) available inside the unlocked niche in AffiloJetpack.

These cheat sheets contain enough research and “gold nugget” ideas to create hundreds of articles on your topic. They can be adapted to any sub-niche and angle, and they make it easy to create useful, informative articles that your visitors will enjoy.

How to use a content cheat sheet

Content cheat sheets should never be used “as-is”. A lot of other AffiloJetpack members have the same cheat sheet, and to put it straight on your website could be considered “duplicate content” and hurt your search engine rankings or quality score.

So consider them the Cliff’s Notes version of your article — the brief outline, rather than the finished product. Here’s how to create an article based on a cheat sheet.

  1. Paraphrase the introduction. Read through the introduction (at the top of the page). This gives you a quick overview of what is going to explained in the article and/or why it is important. Have a read, and then try to explain what you’ve just read in your own words.
  2. Flesh out each point. Each cheat-sheet comes with a bunch of bulletpoint items. These are the “gold nugget” ideas. You can simply paraphrase each item like you did with the introduction, or you might want to add your own thoughts or some other ideas from around the internet to supplement what is already there. You could also use each “gold nugget” as a topic as an idea for a separate article.
  3. Paraphrase the conclusion. Like you did with the introduction, have a read over the conclusion and then explain it in your own words. You might want to mention some of the points you’ve just covered in the rest of the article. You could also use this opportunity to prompt people to sign up for your newsletter, or purchase a related affiliate product.

Hiring a writer

If you’re short on spare time, short on motivation, or simply not much of a wordsmith, hiring someone to write your content for you can be a good move. There are a few different places you can go to find writers:

iWriter.com

A good place to start. You pay a fixed amount per article depending on the quality of the writer. Your articles will be written by a few different writers. If you’re unhappy with an article, you can just reject it and a different writer will get the job.

Because iWriter jobs have fast turnaround and no preliminary discussion with the writer, it’s important to give very clear instructions when requesting the articles.

Fiverr.com

There are some good writers to be found here, but you need to dig. Prices start at $5, although what you get for $5 will differ between providers. If you’re patient, and you can spend a bit of time digging through the hundreds of offers, you can find some real bargains.

Upwork.com

You post a job with a detailed description of what you require with a rough budget, and writers submit proposals. You can choose a writer based on their proposal, their bid, any sample material they’ve submitted, and their ratings from past jobs. If you’re looking to spend more money for higher quality results, Upwork is a good place to go.

AffiloJetpack recommended writers

In each niche we’ve given you a list of writers who meet our criteria, and are likely to give you good results. Many of these writers are writers we used ourselves in creating the content for AffiloJetpack. They mostly work through Upwork, so we suggest that you create a job listing in Upwork and invite all the writers on the list (as well as leaving it open to applications from the general Upwork community).

This way you will get a range of competitive proposals.

Information to provide to your writer

The more information you can provide your writer, the happier you’ll be with the results. For a writer, the actual “writing” part is easy. It’s the research and angle for the article that takes the most time and energy.

If you can provide these to the writer, ready to go, you should be able to get better quality articles for less money.

  1. The topic - This will usually be your keyword. You can also provide them with the content cheat sheet (available inside an AffiloJetpack niche) and say “Write this article!”
  2. Your sub-niche and perspective, if you’ve chosen one. (Eg, “Write a blog post based on this content, but tweak it so that it is directed at women wanting to lose weight after pregnancy. Write it as if you are a new mother struggling with post-pregnancy weight yourself, and this is your blog.”)
  3. If you want multiple articles from one cheat sheet, you can tell the writer to write a broad discussion of this topic (based on the content cheat sheet), and then create separate articles to elaborate on each bulletpoint within the cheat sheet. Each bulletpoint is its own separate topic.
  4. How many words? 700 - 1000 words is a good length for an article.
  5. Tell your writer not to keyword optimize the article. Trust us on this! When a writer is focused on squeezing the keyword into an article, they tend to write nonsense. You can always go through and judiciously add the keyword later if you wish.

How long should it take?

  • With iWriter you will typically receive all your articles within a few days.
  • With Fiverr it can depend on how fast the writer is, and how many jobs he/she already has waiting. Fiverr will give you an estimated delivery time.
  • With Upwork, the provider will give you an estimated delivery time when they submit their proposal. If they exceed this time, they risk receiving negative feedback… so they will usually stick to it!
