Making videos of sales pages?

Hello friends!

I have a question that I'm not sure about so I wanted to ask people who know stuff.

We are thinking of doing some affiliate videos and I got the idea of making videos using the stuff on successful sales pages and then having people click to those sales pages to buy it.

Is this okay to do or is this something that is a big No-No?

I would appreciate your help.

THNANKS!

I think you will find your answer by trying/testing it out using 1 or 2 videos, assuming the content you will be using is that from your own sales page--if you use the content on the vendor's site, it may (actually I'm sure it will) infringe their copyrights.

I use an intro video on one of my websites. Once they sign up, the first email has a link to the video. That message has a 75% open rate. All the video does is present the same info as on the sign up page to explain a service that I offer. It's essentially what you're describing, I think.

Thank you for your reply.

Maybe if I would summarize the sales letter of someone else and then send them to the 'real' sales letter, would that be okay?

From your reply it seems that people will view a video but not read a sales letter.

Am I understanding this correctly or just being confused?

My reply was not meant to discourage you.

Video sales pages supposedly have a good conversion rate, especially as a sales page. If people will open an email to get a link to watch a video, imagine what it might do as a sales page, right?

My example on how I've used video was actually meant to show that video does seem to work.

I suggested that you test it so you see how that compares to what you may be currently doing. As with a traditional sales page, there are variables that can make your video more successful relative to what you're trying to achieve with it. Testing is what will let you uncover what works best for you. (This is true of everything we're trying to do for affiliate or any kind of marketing).

Your idea to summarize the sales page is a good one. I would just concentrate on the main benefits, put those in your own words and make a short video. By way of sharing information I've learned about the use of videos as a sales tool, it seems that they should be short-maybe no more than 3 minutes or so; but this also is a variable to test depending on what you're topic is, how/what you're using it, where you would be posting it.

Does that make sense?

Yes. Thank you!

I think I will try to do some short videos summarizing longer sales letters. Just saying what I think about it; maybe something like a quick review.

Sales videos have a higher chance of conversion as compared to the usual text sales pages. So, if you want to create a video promoting a product then have your affiliate link on it, that's fine.

You can create product reviews in video, instead of an article, and include your affiliate link either on the description box (if you're uploading it on sites like YouTube), within the video, or on the accompanying brief article (if putting it on your site).

Hope that helps. Have a good day!

All of your responses are very helpful. I will have to try some things to see what works.
