Do I Post Articles In One Go Or One At A Time?

When building an affiliate website I have heard Mark mention that he posts all the articles e.g. 20-30 articles in one time and then starts to build backlinks to it.

Is this a correct method? The reason I ask is doesn't google like fresh content always being added.

Hi Paul,

You can do it one at a time or all in one go. What Mark does is he publishes 20 to 30 articles all at once as soon as the site is up so he can start building backlinks to it. Once he gets to see a bit of traffic coming into the site, he then adds one article at a time. He adds articles on a regular basis though like 1 article each week. Doing so helps keep the site updated, all the while he is building backlinks to it.

You can choose to do it the other way and add articles one at a time but I suggest you come up with a schedule between adding articles and creating backlinks so that you can do both side by side.

Hope that helps. Have a good day!

Also when you add your first 20+ articles all at once it makes the site look more established to visitors, if it had only 1-5 articles published, it makes the site look new and not very "authoritative" or "experienced" if that makes sense.

Yes you hit it spot on tankctrlr.. if you are starting and you have only one article, people won't be interested with the site. More content uploaded at once, speaks for credibility and authority for your site. :-)

I always try to get 10-15 articles up as soon as I can on a new site and then make a schedule to post 1 article every week on the same day and at the same time.

I find the Google bots seem to like it and they soon get to know my posting schedule and come looking for new articles every Monday.

I'm not sure if it's the right way to do it but it works for me and I usually find my articles get indexed and start ranking within 24 hours.

Can you ever run of articles to post?

I'm guessing when you post articles they should all be based on a certain keyword.

Is there ever a time when you post articles that are not tied to a keyword, since Google loves fresh content?

Every article should be based on a different keyword but the keyword has to be relevant to your niche.

For example if your niche is "fly fishing" you can write about: Fly fishing equipment, types of rods, types of reels, best hooks, how to make your own fly fishing hooks, where's the best places to fish, what are what types of fish you will catch fly fishing, about the fish, fly fishing clothes, where to get the best prices..... etc etc.

You can break it into categories and even sub categories.

That is why I would always advise anyone to choose a niche that they are passionate about and know a lot about so you are less likely to run out of ideas for writing.

When starting my niche site as part of affiloblueprint, I submitted 18 articles at once and am going to work on posting one per week for the next few weeks. The site already looks quite good, but I have heard it takes a while for the content to get indexed so my data is still new and traffic pretty much non-existent :)

Hi J

Getting indexed and getting ranked are two different things.

How competitive your niche is and what keywords you have chosen will also have a bearing on how quickly you will start to see traffic but it will happen.

Just be patient, keep adding an article every week and you should soon be seeing results. :)

I think this is where a good product like Affilojetpack helps a lot. You're given a set number of "content cheat sheets" you can base articles on so less research time and less time to write.

If you're not a keen writer, then you can give the content cheat sheets to the writer you're outsourcing the writing to and wait for the finished product. Then upload.

Posting a dozen or so articles when your blog is brand new is a good thing. It gives some variety for your visitors and makes them stay longer - provided all the articles are niche related, of course. A group of articles then helps Google decide if your site has a theme, although bear in mind it's page rank that is more important than site rank, which seems to have faded away a bit.

If you have more articles than that all at once, or you're feeling inspired one day and have the ability to churn out a number of posts at once (if your blog is established) put the up on your site but use WordPress' scheduled post facility to put them one or two a day over a period of time. This enables you to have some time off from writing to see to those other important things.... Like family.
