Content Ideas for Facebook Fanpage

Hi everyone,

Am still a total newbie to affiliate marketing.

I was thinking to market an affiliate link just via FB fanpage, without needing to create a website.
I have the marketing tactics down & the demographics researched. But is the whole idea feasible to make at least my first 1k? And to keep my fanpage active for a month, what content can I add? Do I outsource 100 wrd articles & post them on a weekly basis?

Any feedback is welcome. Thanks

Hi na006p,

That is the challenge in marketing without a website. It is more difficult to publish content as you are limited to what you can post. Facebook comes with a Note feature that you can use to publish 100-300 word articles, then place your affiliate link at the bottom.

I have not checked if Facebook TOS allows this. I suggest you check first before proceeding with your plan.

Hope that helps. Have a good day!

You also should think about the fact that all your content will NOT be under your control, Facebook will have full control of whatever you post and they can shut you down at anytime.

So all your hard work and time will be wasted if they decide for whatever reason, that they don't want you to use THEIR services anymore.

You may think, "well I'm not going to do anything wrong, they won't shut me down", this may be true, but why take the chance, especially these days when unfortunately more and more things are being deemed "controversial", like being a conservative, or biting a poptart into the shape of a gun.

Just something to consider.

Andrew has, unfortunately, a good point. Unfortunate because it is true, and it *may* happen. As I mentioned in my earlier post, better check with their terms if this is something Facebook allows. I have a lot of friends who sell products through Facebook, but these are more of like a buy and sell thing. Quite different from affiliate marketing.

Why not register your own domain and get your own hosting? Having a site gives you more control about how your site looks, how your content will appear. You can check out sites like Affilorama Domains, NameCheap or HostGator. All three provide both domain registration and hosting at good prices. There are special offers from time to time that you can wait and take advantage of.

Hope that helps. Have a good day!

Overall, using Facebook for marketing seems feasible, though you will be pretty much limited while doing this.
Actually Facebook is not the best place for sharing real content, e.g. detailed descriptions, product reviews and so forth, while it's perfectly fine to feature important updates, industry news and use engagement techniques, such as contests, giveaways, surveys etc. As for regular updates, 100 wrd content is enough, plus attach images or videos so that your posts will be both informative and sharable.

I am just getting my feet wet with affiliate marketing. I come from more of a content background, so bear with me if this is a totally stupid question. But can't she do affiliate marketing from a free site? Like Blogger? Does she have to pay for hosting/domain?

Hi Jessica,

Free sites like Blogger and Wordpress don't allow advertising on their sites. For Blogger, you can only ad AdSense, and for Wordpress they have something like WordAds. Anything other than that and you are running the risk of getting your free site banned. Besides, sites hosted for free tend to be sub-domains of the main site with URLs like mysite.domain.com which can make the site look dubious.

You can go into affiliate marketing without a site. You can go over the following lesson on how: Marketing without a Website

Hope that helps. Have a good day!
