Monetizing my website with affiliate links

Hey everyone, I'm brand new to affiliate marketing. Actually really have done anything in it but some banner ads. I have a old site that use to be ranked rather well years ago and I've been doing other things and it fell by the way side. I just recreated the website in wordpress and it's back up. The site is funny-tshirts.com

But now i'm kind of having the idea of turning it into a affiliate site. Just having links or affiliate t-shirt products on it. Any opinions or advice?

Thanks,
Thomas

Hi Thomas,

There is nothing to lose when you monetize your website with affiliate links. Since you are on WordPress, you can easily optimize your website pages for rankings to get traffic. If you have not done yet, we do offer free lessons in Affilorama here: https://www.affilorama.com/lessons

Do it! :)

It used to rank well, so you already have an idea of how to get traffic. I don't really know how/where to put affiliate links on sales sites, but you can collect emails using a popup opt-in form, join affiliate programs you think your website visitors would be interested in, and send emails with other funny t-shirts or stuff from other places they might like. The first site I thought of was TipsyElves (saw them on Shark Tank lol), and they happen to have an affiliate program. Typing "funny shirt affiliate" into Google gives you a bunch of results. Or if you have a company you like, see if they have one you can join. I don't know if this is a good or bad idea since they're technically competition, but you would still be making money so... And besides, you would still have their attention even after they leave your site. And you could show them other funny things instead of t-shirts.

Def do what Mary suggested and check out their lessons if you haven't already. Under "Market Research" you'll see "How to Choose an Affiliate Program," "How to use CJ Affiliate," and "10 Alternatives to ClickBank."

Side note: Love the Big Bang Theory clip :)
