Are Free Classified Sites Worth The Expenditure?

Friends, I just want to know about the efficacy of free classified sites. Have you tried using them? I tried USFreeAds long back and tasted some success though. There are scores of such sites. Are they worth the try and expenditure?

Hi Prasanth,

It depends on how to use the classifieds. Are you look for direct exposure for your affiliate links or for backlinking?

Classifieds are no longer effective as a backlinking or SEO method. You're better off focusing on PPC or paid business listing.

You can use it to post your affiliate links and give it more exposure, but you need to make sure its ok to post affiliate links on the classifieds you're posting.

Hope that helps. Have a good day!

In my opinion, it's not worth the time for only a bit of exposure. There are plenty of other ways to gain exposure that help with SEO at the same time & I'd certainly focus on those first and foremost. If, however, you find you have load of extra time, I suppose it couldn't hurt!

If you are selling items or services locally such as 'computer repair services' or 'ipods', then you might have some success finding local buyers for what you have to offer. As for advertising online services, it's not likely these sites really work well.

Using classified sites such as Craigslist is highly effective if done properly. I wouldn't attempt to promote a service but utilizing a few of the categories, you can surely make money.

Criagslist might not be the best solution for affiliate links as your ad can easily get reported. I have seen some ads that have affiliate links and always those ads are taken down very quickly. There's a very watchful group of people on Craigslist (not to mention your competition) who will happily report you for these type of links.

You might instead send the user to a page where they can sign up to a newsletter to receive info on site discounts, specials and news. This would offer a more legitimate marketing method, rather than rely on one off traffic to an affiliate link.

If your ad is placed in the right category then you should see good results I suppose. Advertising the link of your own website cannot be a bad idea on Craigslist.

Yes, For local business it is very useful. If your ad is placed in the exact category you get good exposure.
