Trying to understand TT

Hello.

I am a little confused as to how Traffic Travis determines the ranking difficulty of a keyword. The software seems to almost completely ignore PR as a factor. It will display relatively easy for keywords with a PR median of 6. Any explanation?

Thanks.

Many times a page with high PR will rank highly for a keyword just because of the PR, but won't be trying to rank for it.

In these cases, it is possible to outrank even with a low PR page if you are targeting that term specifically.

Hi Dave,

I agree with esolutions. Page rank maybe important to ranking factor, yes. But this is just one small factor to consider, most especially that Google does not anymore give high importance to sites PR as compared before.

You can actually outrank a high PR site these days. You can try searching for a particular keyword and try to check other sites that outrank higher PR sites. :) There are a lot of these samples online. So yes, do not worry much about the PR factor.

Thanks for the replies. I am still a little confused, however.

Isn't the whole point of back-link building the PR increase that's associated with it?

Also, I have noticed that when I guest post on a blog, my back-link is always located on the page which usually has a very low PR. Does this mean that I am not getting much, if any link juice?

Hi ruttandavid8,

Just as previously said, high PR is still important but this is not the only basis for getting a high ranking in SERPs. For guest posting, it is possible that you get a low PR for that because probably the page is just newly created. But again, do not think much of page rank. If the site you made a guest post to is a high PR site and has a good source of traffic, you may not get a high ranking page for that but still you can get direct visits from that site.

Just continue baklinking and then make sure you get variety of links from different sites.
