Need a niche topic - Ideas please?

Hi all,
I'm finding it a bit difficult to choose a niche topic so I can start building a
site and start using what Ive learned so far. Was it difficult for you all
to decide on your first site??

I've come up with two niche product ideas and was wondering if any of you
could give me your opinion on them.

I've been doing a lot of reading and learning on how to find niches.
I think that although these may not be million dollar sites they may be
good simple content sites to start with and bring in some money every
month through adsense.
The first one is "exotic meats", buffalo meat, ostrich meat, elk meat,
venison meat ect.
The second one is "surplus" Army surplus, Military surplus, Government
Surplus....more of a resource site for surplus.

Thanks Much,
Randy

I'm going to take a wild stab and say there are more people searching for surplus than exotic meats? (yuck) lol

Adrian,

1 vote for surplus.

haha, good call :P

Actually, I know absolutely nothing about either of those two topics. Except that I had a kangaroo burger once.....

I'd probably go with surplus too, but it's really hard to know without doing the research myself. Can you give us some data to look at? ie searches per month, competition for major keywords etc etc.

Hi Randy,

Taking the first step building the first site was hard for me - fearful of choosing the wrong niche and failing I guess. Since then I've embraced the concept of "failing fast" - learn what doesn't work fast and move on to what does. It keeps inertia from settling in on me anyway

Have you looked at your niches through the eyes of Google's Trend tool? Sometimes it's helpful in making a decision.
