Pay Per Click Demonstration, Part II

Pay Per Click Demonstration, Part II

Hey Guys,

I'm just writing a short post here to let you know how I'm getting on with my example project that I started in the last blog post. I hired an upworker and he has written for me 15 articles on topics related to "how to fix your registry".

I requested the following articles be written:

registry repair tips
registry fix | How to fix your computer registry
registry cleaner
free registry cleaners
registry mechanic review
free registry cleaners
registry cleaner reviews
spyware removal
anti spyware
how to block windows spyware
how to block windows adware
best ways to stop spyware
What is spyware
what is adware
How to repair windows xp registry problems
Tips to speed up your pc

Most of the above article topics were chosen because they have a high number of people searching for them, but I threw in a couple that didn't have high search numbers in the exact phrasing that I used above, but I felt they'd make good relevant articles, and will be particularly interesting when I use them in a newsletter series on the site.

So, now that I have received my articles. The next step that I will be taking is to set up a website that includes:

* A contact us page
* A privacy policy page
* A regular home page
* Articles pages
* A landing page for pay per click purposes

The reasons for all the extra pages (contact us, articles etc, is to keep the quality score of the website high, see my earlier blog post on how to boost your quality score to keep your minimum bids low)

The most important part, however, for pay per click purposes, will be the landing page that I create.

I'm actually going to set up 2 landing pages and will be split testing between them to see which one gets me the most sales. I'll track these using clickbank tracking ids (seeing as the products that I'm promoting will be clickbank based affiliate products).

According to the Frequently Asked Questions on Clickbank.com:
"How do I add a Tracking Id(TID) to a hoplink? The format of the hoplink URL with a tracking code is located below. http://AFFILIATE.PUBLISHER.hop.clickbank.net/?tid=XXXXXXXX The tracking code (which is "XXXXXXXX" in the example above) can be 8 characters long, containing alpha and numeric characters only. Any tracking code longer than 8 characters will be truncated. Any tracking code containing characters other than alpha or numeric values will have the entire tracking code removed from the hoplink and order process and will not show in the transaction report. Tracking codes received with upper and lower case characters will be set to all uppercase."

The two landing pages will be:

1. A review-style landing page where 4 different products will be rated from 1 to 4 and I'll affiliate to each product.

Versus

2. A squeeze-style landing page, where I have a newsletter series that goes out (which is going to be a rewording of the articles that the Upworker wrote for me), and will include promotions for the various anti-spam software.

Once I've set this site up, I'll let you know so I can demonstrate what these landing pages look like. It'll take me a few weeks as I'm flying out to Los Angeles tomorrow (from New Zealand), and will be on the road for the next couple of months.

Feel free to comment with questions/suggestions!

All the best!

Hey Mark! Kristine here (the one who suggested that you get married in Vegas like we did months back - LOL!!!) - I can't wait to see the split testing...it's always interesting to see what happens. I have a question for you on something similar to PPC that just came through my mailbox the other day called PPP (Pay Per Play) - I don't know if you've heard anything about it but I value your opinion and would like to know what you think about this *new* kind of PPC and if it would be worthwhile pursuing. Thanks for reading... My Affiliate link to the program: (broken link removed) Non-Affiliate Link: http://www.sellingppp.com/ Have a safe trip to LA tomorrow! Kristine Hi Kristine, Great to hear from you again! I have my doubts about that audio pay per play idea as it seems similar to popup ads and I'm not sure if the relevancy would be all that great. But I could easily be proven wrong by results as testing will prove everything. All the best! Mark

Thanks Mark for your thoughts. I too am curious about it and will be testing it on a few pages to see how it pans out.

It doesn't go live initially until early 2008 so I'll be sure to check back in and let folks know if it's paying off or not.

I am a Clickbank affilaite. One thing that many people seem to miss out when praising Clickbank is the way commission is paid.

Commission is only paid by check in the form od US$, no other options are available.

I'm in the UK, and they owe me $196. Which won't be sent to me till I got 2 more sales (you have to make 5 when you first sign as a clickank affiliate). And one of those 5 sales must be by a customer using Mastercard to purchase.

They're like dinosaurs compared to others who at least give the option to have affiliate commission paid into a PayPal account in your own currency.
